Rescue Logs

On a mission to rescue as many logs as possible from being chipped and chopped up for firewood through resource allocation & education. Our projects support healing and resilience-building in the hills.

The Kalorama Chestnut Festival 2024

Friendship Seats from salvaged logs, Children's Books, live Book Readings, The Magic Under The Chestnut Tree, Artwork for all ages, and whittling by Shlomit our favourite Chainsaw artist. We had a lot going on this year and everyone had so much fun.

We had over 20 children participate in mini art workshops, painting or drawing on timber lovingly finished, sealed and branded by our committee member Doug.

Friendship Seats that were lovingly made by a local woodworker were sold to raise funds for the kinder. The logs used were donated by locals Jacquie and Ian who had over 20 trees down on their Kalorama property in the Big Storm. The logs were short and could easily have been chopped for the fire pile but instead we were able to use them to create these beautiful seats so that every child at kinder can find friendship.

We raffled a Live Edge Bench raising much needed funds for projects. The lucky winners Wayne and Silvia were pretty excited!

Big thanks to Jake (Principal Mt D Primary), Victoria (Chestnut Festival Co-ordinator), and Jaki (Store holders co-ordinator) for making the day amazing.

The end of the day saw us donate a Friendship Seat to the Mt Dandenong Kinder as a 'house warming' present since they've just moved into their permanent home on the grounds of Mt Dandenong Primary School.
